How to Hide the Smell of Weed

How to Hide the Smell of Weed?

Weed, also known as marijuana, can have a strong smell that is very noticeable, especially when it is smoked.

Many people don't mind the smell, but there are times when you might want to hide it. This could be because you have picky roommates, parents, or neighbors who don't like the smell or because marijuana is illegal where you live.

The smell of weed also lingers on clothes, hair, and furniture. Turning up to a family dinner smelling of weed may not go down well, so avoiding that persistent smell in the first place is easier than trying to cover it up with a can of LYNX or scented candles.

In this article, we will look at how to avoid and hide the smell of weed.

Why Does Weed Smell?

Weed produces a smell because it contains compounds called terpenes. When you burn weed, these terpenes are released into the air, creating that strong, distinctive smell.

Tips and Tricks to Prevent the Smell of Weed

Choose a Good Location to Smoke

If you can, try to smoke outside. The fresh air helps disperse the smell so it doesn't linger around. If you have to smoke inside, choose a room with good ventilation.

Use Exhaust or Ventilation Equipment

A proper ventilation system can help a lot. You can consider installing a ventilation system if you grow at home or frequently smoke indoors.

If investing in a ventilation system seems over the top, ensure a good constant airflow. Keep windows open and use fans to blow the air outside. An air purifier with a good filter can also help reduce the smell. Remember to change air filters regularly.

Smoke in the Bathroom

Turn on the shower and make it hot to create steam. The steam mixes with the smoke and helps pull it away. Turn on the bathroom fan and stuff damp towels under the door to prevent the smoke from escaping. After smoking, take a quick shower to remove any lingering smell from your body.

Use Natural Fragrances

Instead of using regular air fresheners, try scented candles, essential oils, or incense sticks. Potpourri and dried lavender can help mask the smell of cannabis. Scented candles and essential oils are cheap and easy to buy. Light them at the same time as you start smoking so they will mix with the cannabis smoke and counteract its smell. Just be careful with candles and never leave them unattended.

Make a Sploof

A sploof is a simple handheld device that helps filter the smell of weed from the smoke. Commercial ones may use activated carbon filters to absorb the odor of marijuana. You simply blow the smoke through this tube-like device as you exhale, which helps capture and reduce the smell.

You can make your own if you want to avoid buying one. Here's how:

- Grab a toilet paper roll. Alternatively, cut the base of a plastic bottle with scissors.

- Fill it with three or four layers of scented dryer sheets.

- Cover one end with a dryer sheet and secure it with a rubber band.

- When you smoke, exhale into the open end of the sploof, and it will smell like fresh laundry.

Try Vaping

Vaping weed doesn't produce as much smell as smoking because it heats the weed to a lower temperature. The vapor produced is thinner and dissipates faster than smoke. Vaporizers are also healthier as they avoid the tar and carcinogens created when smoking. This can be a more discreet way to enjoy your weed.

Smoke with a Pipe

Using a pipe or one-hitter can produce less smoke than a joint. You can also use a bong, which filters the smoke through water, reducing the smell.

How to Get Rid of Weed Smell?

There are a few tricks you can use after smoking to help mask the smell.

Clean Up After Smoking

Wash your face and hands, and if possible, take a shower and change your clothes. Wash your clothes as soon as possible or put them in a laundry basket with a lid.

Absorb Some Sunlight

Spend some time outside in the sun. The sun's ultraviolet rays help neutralize odors.

Store Your Weed Properly

Keep your weed in an airtight glass jar. This prevents the smell from seeping out.

Cook Spicy Food

Cooking with strong spices like garlic, ginger, and cloves can help mask the smell of weed. Plus, you'll have something tasty to eat when you get the munchies!

By following these tips, you can enjoy your weed without worrying about the smell bothering others.
